Samsung Electro-Mechanics introduces the Ultra-High-Voltage MLCCs for xEV High- Voltage Powertrains

Samsung Electro-Mechanics offers customized, temperature-compensating, high-voltage multilayer ceramic capacitors for xEV (BEV, PHEV), achieving 1210 inch (3.2×2.5mm) size, C0G (-55 to 125℃) / X8G (-55 to 150℃), and 1.2㎋~33㎋ capacitance at rated 1000V~1500V.

 

This product extends the capacitance range of the existing C0G/X8G line-up to 1000–1500 V, thus meeting the requirements of electric vehicle charging systems (e.g. CLLC resonant circuits) and 800 V inverter systems. As next-generation OBCs have an increased output power beyond 22 kW, the higher voltage and capacitance of MLCCs allow for greater power density and improved reliability of components in OBC design. Additionally, they can be used as snubber capacitors to suppress the switching noise generated when switching devices in inverter power modules are turned on or off.

 

The electrification and increasing functionality of vehicles leads to the rapid increase in the number of MLCCs mounted per vehicle. This drives a continuous demand for miniaturized MLCCs with a higher voltage stability and larger capacitance. In response, Samsung Electro-Mechanics is mass-producing these products by applying our proprietary ceramic and electrode material miniaturization technologies along with ultra-precise layering processes.
